FoodBlessed At Lycee Abdel Kader (LAK) Civic Engagement Fair

March 27th, 2018 Posted by News No Comment yet

Hunger Heroes Joya and Mariane were at Lycee Abdel Kader (LAK) in Beirut!
As LAK expands its Community and Service program to create more opportunities for students to learn, grow and contribute to the local community, their first annual NGO Fair provided a perfect kick-off to building relationships in the community.

Over 20 organizations set up booths as elementary and secondary students rotated around campus learning about the value of NGO programs in Lebanon and how their involvement could contribute to sustainable and meaningful change in the local community.

Flyers, business cards and volunteer forms decked FoodBlessed’s tables to tantalize students to stop by and learn how they can get involved!

Special thanks to Miss Aya Barakat for the invitation ! It was lovely being part of the event.

FoodBlessed At New Orient Academy

March 16th, 2018 Posted by News No Comment yet

New Orient Academy school launched a campaign against Hunger among their students!
To this end, FoodBlessed ‘s Co-founder and Executive Director Hunger Hero Maya Terro was invited to give a talk about hunger, food waste, and social responsibility. She also took the opportunity to talk about what FoodBlessed does and how can highschoolers contribute to and support FoodBlessed’s cause while benefiting themselves!
Maya also highlighted the importance of realizing what poverty is rather than what it is not! To this end, “We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.” (~Mother Teresa)

Special thanks to Principal Amal Yehya, Mrs. Haifa Malaeb , Ms. Nour Yehya and Mr. Shadi Khaddaj for the opportunity! Much appreciated
