Under- A -Wear Awareness campaign

September 3rd, 2016 Posted by News No Comment yet

Since the Syrian Civil War began, the number of Syrian refugees increased tremendously reaching around 5 million. Half of those affected are children. Children affected by the Syrian conflict are at risk of becoming ill, malnourished, abused, or exploited.

People, all over the world, are donating food and clothes to refugees children but no one is cognizant of other basic needs like undergarments. In fact, many children don’t own any underwear. Sanitation and cleanliness are increasingly important in refugee camps, and underwear are a necessity in maintaining proper hygiene. Wearing underwear also maintains privacy.

Because sharing is caring, the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) organized an awareness and a donation campaign under the name “Under-A-Wear” that will be held on September 17th from 10:00am-2:00 pm in Sonbola Learning Center in Hawsh Moussa, Anjar, targeting Syrian Refugees children in Bar Elias Camp and neighboring Camps.

Hariri Foundation conducted awareness sessions to the refugee kids.
Teach for Lebanon (TFL) volunteers prepared some educational activities with the help of MUBS Public Health and Social Work students.

And then there is us……
